Volvo S60 Car Pictures

Volvo S60 car photos, pictures, images and wallpaper. The S60 car marked a clean break for Volvo from the boxy design that many stereotyped the brand with in 1980s and 90s. Its design by Peter Horbury built upon the styling of the S80 and was the most marked departure from traditional Volvo styling since Horbury joined the firm in 1992. Accordingly, Volvo marketed the car as heralding a “Revolvolution.” It was built upon Volvo’s P2 platform, which was shared with three other Volvo models: the S80, the V70 and the XC90. First introduced in 2003, Volvo's S60 R boasted AWD (Haldex) mated to a 300 hp / 295 lb·ft (400 N·m) engine. 2004-2005 models came with a 6-speed manual transmission, as well as a 5-speed automatic which allowed only 258 ft-lb. torque. 2006-2007 models were available with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The 2006-2007 Automatic Transmission allowed for the full torque of 295lbs. (however, this torque was still limited to 258 ft-lbs.

Subaru WRX Car Photos

The Subaru Impreza WRX car received a complete front-end re-design, boldly styled headlights with smoke-tinted lenses, a three-section mesh-type grill, and distinguished new tail lamp clusters. Three trims levels are available: WRX TR (Tuner Ready), WRX, and Limited. The car’s curb weight is 3,140 lb (1,424 kg) for the WRX TR, 3,192 lb (1,448 kg) for the WRX, and 3240 for the WRX Limited. The biggest change was the 2.5-liter turbocharged intercooled EJ255 engine, producing 230 hp (172 kW) at 5600 rpm. It replaced the 2.0-liter EJ205 engine used since the WRX model's introduction. The larger-displacement engine produces 235 lb·ft (319 N·m) of peak torque at 3,600 rpm, compared to 217 lb·ft (294 N·m). at 4,000 rpm for the previous WRX. Performance was improved in all speed ranges, with greater emphasis on low-end and mid-range torque. The 2.5-liter WRX engine shares architecture and technology with the WRX STI engine, including Subaru Active Valve Control System (AVCS) variable valve timing technology and an Electronic Throttle Control system. The turbocharger remains the same unit as on the 2002-2005MY US-spec WRXs, but now only peaks at 11.6 psi of boost. The first gear in the transmission received dual-ring synchros to improve downshifts from 2nd to 1st.

For the 2009 model year the WRX will receive a boost of 41 horsepower (31 kW) and 18 ft·lbf (24 N·m) of torque to bring the total output to 265 bhp (198 kW) and 244 ft·lbf (331 N·m) of torque. In addition, the 2009 model will receive stiffer suspension parts from the STi model, an aerodynamic package and summer performance tires will become standard, and the 5-door hatchback version will feature the rear spoiler and underbody diffuser from the STi. The WRX will be also only available with 5-speed manual transmission. The 4-speed semi-automatic racing sports gear shift; manual/automatic will be available on a new Impreza model called the 2.5 GT, which feature the same 2.5L 4-cylinder 224Bhp (246 Bhp) Subaru Boxer Turbo engine as in the 2008 WRX.[5]

Nissan Altima Coupe Photos Car

Nissan altima coupe photos, images and pictures. As an early 2008 model, a new Altima coupe is joining the existing Altima four-door sedan. Now in its fourth generation, "Altima is the power brand for Nissan," said regional product manager John Curl. A coupe is expected to "add incremental sales to the Altima brand," attracting "young customers especially." Other coupes on the market, Curl believes, are "not very good, or not very interesting." Nissan's main target is the Honda Accord coupe.

Nissan "started with a clean sheet of paper" for the coupe, Curl said. It's not merely a two-door sedan. The only body panel shared with the sedan is the hood. "Everything else is completely unique to the coupe."
Wheelbase is about 4 inches shorter than the sedan's, and the roofline has been lowered by about 2 inches. Tiny rear quarter windows are installed, and the doors are considerably wider than those of a sedan. Overall, the coupe is 7.3 inches shorter than an Altima sedan, but widths are identical so the coupe gets a "wide, muscular stance" as well as interior roominess.

Powertrains match those of the Altima sedan. Placed on sale May 25, the Altima coupe has a choice of two engines: a 175-horsepower four-cylinder and a 270-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6. Either a six-speed manual transmission or Nissan's Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) may be installed. Operation of the CVT is utterly refined, as demonstrated in a four-cylinder Altima coupe. This could be the best CVT yet. It's even snappy on takeoff, and as smooth as can be. There's no shortage of energy for merging or passing, either. Because the CVT is so masterful there's little tempation to use the manual-shift mode, which can run through a sequence of virtual "gears."

This coupe is quiet, too, even while accelerating. Altimas emit virtually no buzziness or sense of high engine revs - as in many CTV applications - waiting for the car to catch up. Ride comfort also appeals. You can feel pavement separators, but they don't affect occupants much at all because the suspension fends them off so well. Steering feel is beautifully balanced: easy to turn and positive to control.

Snugly-bolstered front bucket seats seem appropriate for the sporty coupe. Illuminated gauges have big numbers, and are among the easiest to read. Nothing is perfect, and the Altima sags at times in terms of sounds. Considerable tire noise (actually a buzz) occurs on certain surfaces; but on others, there's none to speak of. In some areas, a notable whine appears. Rear quarter windows don't help much with visibility, which isn't the best either rearward or over-the-shoulder.

Nissan R35 GTR

Nissan R35 GTR photos gallery. Nissan claims the GT-R can reach a top speed of 192 mph (309 km/h), Motor Trend recorded a top speed of 195.0 mph (313.8 km/h). It has been tested to achieve 0-60 mph (97 km/h) times as low as 3.2 seconds with launch control and 3.9 seconds without (improved to 3.5 seconds in models produced since March 2009). Edmunds.com achieved a standing quarter-mile time of 11.6 s at 190 km/h (120 mph) using the GT-R's launch control system. Car and Driver achieved a standing quarter-mile time of 11.5 s at 200 km/h (120 mph). Evo magazine achieved a 0-100-0 mph time of 13.9 seconds. Autocar achieved a 0-100 mph (160 km/h) time of 8.5 seconds.

With a manufacturer claimed lap time of 7:29 min on standard Japanese market tires, the GT-R is currently one of the fastest production cars to lap the Nürburgring circuit, although Porsche accused Nissan of falsifying those claims in September 2008. Porsche claims to have conducted their own test of the GT-R using no modifications and stock tires and achieved a best time of 7:54. Nissan officially disputed Porsche's claim in October 2008. Independent testing has provided times of around 7:50 - 7:55 for the Nissan GT-R and 7:49 for the Porsche GT2 on the Nürburgring, though both tests were conducted with the track partially damp and with the use of automotive journalists as opposed to professional drivers.
